At a destination comprised of 99% ocean, it’s hardly surprising that, in the Maldives, fish features highly on menus. At Hideaway Beach Resort we don’t simply have fish on the menu though, we ensure it is fresh, locally sourced and, with our Fish Market concept, prepared exactly as you like it.

Located in the northern Haa Alifu Atoll, far away from the more populated atolls further south, local fishermen have an abundance of ocean in which to fish and a plentiful supply is always available to our talented culinary team. At Hideaway’s Fish Market you really do know where the fish on your plate has come from – straight from local fishermen to our restaurant. Large-scale commercial fishing is forbidden in the Maldives and the local practices are sustainable, using traditional methods that have been a way of life for hundreds of years. We are proud to support the livelihoods of local fishermen by sourcing directly from them.

Dining at Hideaway’s Fish Market starts with selecting your fish, the selection on offer will vary depending on that day’s catch. Let the flavour develop to your taste by choosing your marinade: Thai, Middle Eastern or Mediterranean and finally decide upon the cooking method – will it be cooked over charcoal, baked, deep-fried or prepared sashimi style?
